Coffee has been a staple in the lives of every student and employee working hard, or for those who just want to warm up their bodies in general.

Either way, coffee plays a huge role in our lives, and hopping on to coffee shops makes us relaxed in different ways, especially when it’s accompanied by the coffee shop’s ambiance that motivates and completes this generation’s “aesthetic.”

If you are a coffee enthusiast, a “coffee-is-my-aesthetic” type of person, or someone who just wants to try new cafes, here are five coffee shops you should check out in Marikina City for your next cafe hopping!

1. Inarawan Coffee

Featured in almost all social media posts, the Inarawan Coffee coffee shop in Concepcion Uno, Marikina, is famous for its tiny, rustic interior.

Established in 2020, the coffee shop is not only famous for its interior, but it is also famous for bikers, as the cafe stands in the middle of two lanes and serves as a quick rest area where bikers could have coffee and rest before biking again.

Inarawan serves coffee, fruit tea, and pastries, which cost Php 70 to Php 250, along with its signature coffees, Salty Cream Barako and Spanish Latte, among others.

Pets are also welcomed in the cafe, so coffee lovers and pet lovers would be delighted to visit Inarawan, especially if they are into bikes as well.

2. Lil Bean Café

Lil Bean Café is the first rooftop cafe in Marikina City that welcomes students, couples, groups of friends, and coffee lovers who want to enjoy their coffee while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the sky in their alfresco dining.

The cafe is located on the third floor of Mancora Building Gil at Mayor Gil Fernando Ave., Marikina, and is open from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day except Wednesday and Saturday, which are only open from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Since it’s a rooftop cafe, the place is perfect for those who want to keep their Instagram feed pretty and want to spend the day and night catching up with friends or doing a memorable get-together.

Some coffees on their menu are the Milky Strawberry, Caramel Macchiato, Strawberry Matcha, and their best-selling Spanish Latte.

3. Joe Mama’s Coffee and Donuts

Founded in 2022, Joe Mama’s Coffee and Donuts, located in Malanday, Marikina, is the first branch of the cafe in the country.

It is a cafe that “specializes in espresso-based coffee and hand-filled, old-fashioned donuts,” has a soft-retro interior, and sells its coffee for as low as Php 110 and its donuts for as low as Php 59.

For coffee lovers who want to explore new coffee shops, Joe Mama’s will surely be a nice pick with its old-grandma vibe and aesthetic.

4. Cocol Coffee and Tea

Located in Parang, Nangka, and San Roque, Marikina, Cocol Coffee, and Tea is one of the popular coffee shops in Marikina that should be included in every coffee lover’s list.

With its bright and refreshing interior, Cocol brings a new coffee experience to its customers, who enjoy good coffee while chatting with friends, spending time alone, or in the middle of their study session.

Aside from coffee and milk tea, Cocol serves frappe, non-caff drinks, and Fresca for Php 155.

5. Pokkó Coffee

Completing the list is Pokkó Coffee, located in Nicanor Roxas Calumpang, Marikina, which serves freshly roasted coffee beans, pasta, and pastries for a decent price.

Its Spanish Latte, which costs Php 128, has been proven to be on par with the famous Angkan Spanish Latte, which serves premium-quality coffee.

They also serve their signature coffee, the Pokko Special Latte, for Php 148, along with their non-coffee drinks and frappes.

Pokkó Coffee is a study-friendly and pet-friendly cafe that must be visited by true coffee lovers!
There are many more coffee shops that you could hop on in Marikina City, but start slow with these five cafes, and you will eventually find your way to discovering new and hidden coffee shops, even restaurants, in the city!
